On her big night at the Oscars, Jennifer Lawrence tripped on her enormous Dior dress on the way to the stage - and it was perfect.
"You guys are just standing up because you feel bad that I fell and that's really embarrassing but thank you," said the Best Actress winner for the comedy Silver Linings Playbook last week as she received a standing ovation.
Backstage, she interrupted a question about her fall with a wisecrack ("Was it on purpose? Absolutely") and tried valiantly not to drop an F-bomb ("What went through my mind when I fell down? A bad word that I can't say, that starts with F").
It was somehow a fitting and charming ending to an awards season when Lawrence, 22, had emerged as a runaway hit with her casual, shoot-from-the-hip humour.
