Ekin Cheng an iPad game fiend while filming new movie Saving General Yang
Off screen, the cast of Saving General Yang were apparently as tight-knit as the historical family that they portray in a new period movie.
At a press conference at Equarius Hotel at Resorts World Sentosa Saturday, Brunei-born Wu Chun, 33, says that he and his fellow actors would often chat, have meals and even play computer games together.
Looking on at his co-stars Ekin Cheng, 45, and Vic Chou, 31 - also in town to promote the movie - Wu says with a laugh: "Ekin Cheng would take out his iPad and we would all surround him and watch him play. But we're all still in our heavy armor costumes, so it's really quite a funny scene if you think about it - so many guys dressed in historical war outfits, just watching this one guy playing a game on his iPad. Shooting the movie with these guys was really a fun experience."
Directed by Ronny Yu, Saving General Yang is about the historical Yang family in Song Dynasty China, who have since become symbols of loyalty, filial piety and brotherhood. The movie, which also stars Hong Kong's Raymond Lam, 33, opens in cinemas on Thursday.
