The outlook for local films remains promising beyond 2013 with eight works in the pipeline getting a leg up from the Singapore Film Commission.

And the diversity of the inaugural batch of projects to be made with the grant has received the thumbs-up from film-makers.

Ric Aw, who will be making Mandarin drama Building Waves with the grant, says: "This grant cares about our cultural capital. It looks into projects that have cultural significance and artistic value to Singapore."

The recipients of the New Talent Feature Grant were unveiled at the ScreenSingapore film event last month (Dec 2012).
