Design projects and top designers recognised with national award
A football boot, an all-in-one desktop computer and an art installation at The Substation were among nine design projects which clinched the prestigious President's Design Award for Design of the Year.
Alongside these winners, four designers across various disciplines such as interior and product design were awarded the Designer of the Year prize too. The group included veteran architect Tan Cheng Siong, who is behind the Pearl Bank Apartments, and advertising man Yang Yeo of JWT Shanghai, who made the world's most awarded advertisement of all time, Heaven And Hell for luggage company Samsonite.
The ceremony for the annual awards, which is now in its seventh year, was held on Tuesday night at the Istana, and was given out by the award's patron, President Tony Tan Keng Yam.
Organised by DesignSingapore Council and the Urban Redevelopment Authority here, a bumper crop of 139 nominations were received.
