When Canadian singer-songwriter David Foster performs here tomorrow and Saturday, the stars are not just him and his guests, funk-soul diva Chaka Khan, R&B crooner Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds, classical crossover act Hayley Westenra and English rock musician Paul Young.

All eyes - and ears - will be paying attention to the new Star Performing Arts Centre, or The Star Pac, located in Buona Vista. The Foster concert is the first to be held there.

With a seating capacity of 5,000, the purpose-built Star Pac is the mid-sized concert and performing arts venue that had been missing in the local scene.

Before Star Pac, there were only a handful of indoor concert venues in Singapore, but none that specifically catered to a mid-sized audience.
