After months of back-and-forth between film-makers and the Media Development Authority (MDA), the controversial Singapore film Sex.Violence.FamilyValues has finally been cleared for release.

It will open in cinemas on March 14.

The new, edited version of the film will have eight seconds of dialogue between an Indian and a Chinese character overdubbed with Indian classical music. This version has been given an R21 rating by the MDA, meaning that only those aged 21 or older may attend.

Last October, the film sparked debate in Singapore on the limits of racial speech in Singapore when it was pulled from released just days before it was to open, following complaints from people who had viewed the trailer online.
