Eric Clapton is a man of very few words. But then, his guitar speaks for him, and so eloquently, too.

At his latest Singapore outing on Tuesday evening at the Indoor Stadium, the British blues stalwart kept crowd interaction to a bare minimum, choosing instead to let his instrument - and those darn adept fingers - do the talking.

At 68, Clapton, who has played shows here in 1990, 2007 and 2011, has made it clear that the time has come for him to slow down, even telling Rolling Stone magazine last year that he plans to stop touring when he turns 70.

A tour programme at his Tokyo gig last week also reportedly hinted that he would not be back.
