Commercial entities can now apply for more grants under the National Arts Council's revised grants system. Amateurs and semi-professionals will also be eligible for grants under the more inclusive scheme. The council will introduce the revamped grants framework on Feb 18.
Under the new system, the 14 grant programmes at present will also be merged and simplified to just seven. The streamlined framework aims to make it easier for individuals and organisations to navigate its different offerings.

Both artists and arts groups welcome the streamlined grants system although some question the extension of grants to for-profit entities.
