One of the most prominent Malay personalities on local English television, comedian Suhaimi Yusof is known for playing humorous characters like Jojo Joget on satire series The Noose and Sergeant Dollah on sitcom Police & Thief.

What many do not know is that the 43-year-old winner of Best Comedy Performance prize at the most recent Asian Television Awards held last year was a shy and timid child.

The turning point in his life came when he was in secondary school. Tasked with staging a performance for Teacher's Day, he came up with a skit that spoofed the late King Of Pop, Michael Jackson.

To his surprise, his schoolmates laughed during his performance. "It was a light bulb moment for me. Hey, I can make these people laugh!"
