Club lounge with live Chinese music to open at St James
A new nightclub that combines the trendy "lounge" concept with live Chinese music will open at nightlife multiplex St James Power Station next month.
Called Club Deluxe, the outlet is taking over the 3,500 sq ft space formerly occupied by nostalgia-themed jazz bar Bellini Room. At the new $240,000 outlet, patrons can relax on plush sofas, drink, and hear performers belt out contemporary mando-pop and canto-pop songs, accompanied by a pianist.
The 200-capacity nightspot will also practise the Thai disco and Chinese bar culture of customers buying flower garlands for entertainers to show their appreciation. But instead of flower garlands, there will be silk sashes.
The singers will be hired from China.
