Cathay Organisation is producing its first movie in 15 years with a script by Singaporean playwright Michael Chiang.

Comedian Moses Lim and actress Michelle Chong will star in Our Sister Mambo, according to a report in entertainment trade publication Variety.

The project, to be produced by Cathay's executive director Choo Meileen, is intended to celebrate the company's 80th year of operation. Although Ms Choo told The Straits Times self-deprecatingly that she does not know what the movie will achieve, she added: "I just hope it comes out well so that audiences will enjoy it."

The company's first production since 1999's That One No Enough, the film is a romantic comedy inspired by the 1957 Cathay film, Our Sister Hedy. Lim will play the patriarch of a family with four daughters. The third daughter Mambo is trying to marry off her sisters.
