Blind chef Christine Ha is adamant that she did not have it any easier than the other contestants on the hit reality TV cooking competition Masterchef, which she won.

Ha's win on Season 3 of Masterchef in September (2012) had some viewers crying foul over the fact that she had a helper on the show.

But the Vietnamese-American tells Life! that having a helper actually puts her at a disadvantage, rather than the other way round.

Speaking over the telephone from her home in Houston, Texas, the 33-year-old says: "The producers hired a helper for me to level the playing field. I did not know her before the show, and she was certainly not there to give me a leg up. She was simply there to make the challenges fair on my behalf.
