Beauty for ashes: How families cope with tragedies

When television and theatre actor Simon Wong's wife Peikie Ng was diagnosed wih stage 3 stomach cancer in August 2007, they had been married for just four years. It was just six months earlier that they had bought a private flat in Joo Chiat, ready to live life together.

She was the love of his life - they shared interests in photography, art and travel. When she died in 2008, his world fell apart.

But conscious that her "indomitable spirit" would want him to turn that pain and depression around, he staged a music and photography exhibition, InHerShoes, in 2009.

The one-evening event, with 35 photos from their travels to symbolise the age at which she died, has grown to become a three-day event this year. And it has, over the past three years, raised money for cancer charities.
