On top of being a cookbook author and food show host, Australian celebrity chef Luke Mangan of Salt grill at Ion Orchard has branched out into baby food.

Called Baby Bites by Luke Mangan, the range of baby food with no additives includes flavours such as lamb casserole and chicken paella. It launched in Australia about two months ago in supermarkets and gourmet grocers.

On the chance business venture, 42-year-old Mangan says: "My friends were talking about it and I was thinking why not? I wanted a partnership with Heinz, but they said no. So I thought, stuff it, I'll do it on my own."

The bachelor adds with a chuckle: "It's about educating children's palates when they are young. By the time they are 20 years old, they will eat at all my restaurants."
