The release of the first Asia's 50 Best Restaurants list, in which Tokyo's Narisawa clinched the top spot, has set off discussions among the foodie community here.
One of the key issues raised include the emergence of India, and China - which have seven and six restaurants listed respectively - as countries to pay attention to.
Closer analysis of the list also shows that popular tourist destinations such as Korea and Taiwan are not represented at all.
Restaurants that featured on the bottom 50 of The World's Best Restaurants list last year, were also highly regarded in the Asian list - which came as a surprise to some.
