A married couple, both philosophy majors, go on an eight-month sailing expedition and decide to make music together. The husband and wife decide to name their indie band... Tennis?

Go figure, but Alaina Moore, vocalist-keyboardist of the Denver, Colorado, duo, explains that the name stemmed from a running joke between her and spouse-cum-guitarist Patrick Riley.

Says Moore, 27, in a telephone interview: "It was something that I would tease Patrick about when we first met because he had played tennis growing up. Which I thought was very hilarious because where I grew up in Denver, that was seen as, like, a really pansy sport."

The three-year-old act play their first gig here next month, at the Esplanade's Mosaic Music Festival.
