Just what is the magic formula behind the massive success of Jack Neo's Ah Boys To Men movies?

The two-part movies have climbed to the top of the charts and are now the highest grossing local movies of all time.

As of Thursday, Ah Boys To Men 2 - currently still showing in cinemas - raked in $6.446 million, beating the record held by its predecessor Ah Boys To Men, which earned $6.213 million.

Not only that, but the movies' main cast of fresh faces comprising Joshua Tan, Noah Yap, Tosh Zhang, Maxi Lim, Ridhwan Azman, Aizuddiin Nasser and Wang Weiliang, have also shot to stardom. At a recent fan-meet, more than 1,500 screaming fans eagerly showed their support for their idols for three hours.
