58-year-old Mong Hing Teochew Restaurant to close in May
Teochew food institution Mong Hing Teochew Restaurant at KeyPoint on Beach Road is closing in May, after 58 years.
Among various reasons leading to the closure, the restaurant's lease expires in May as the building was acquired in April last year by the Fragrance Group and World Class Land, a subsidiary of Aspial Corporation.
Mong Hing started off as a humble hawker stall at Ellenborough Market, and is now run by the 85-year-old patriarch Koh Khiang Siah's sons.
His two oldest sons, Chin Huat, 57, and Chin Chye, 56, helm the kitchen, while youngest son Chin Seng, 50, manages the restaurant.
