42 Waterloo Street to reopen as Centre 42, a space for writing for the stage

The former Action Theatre premises on 42 Waterloo Street will be reopening later this month under a new banner - Centre 42, a space dedicated to writing for the Singapore stage.
A team of theatre practitioners and administrators, Casey Lim, Robin Loon, Chiu Chien Seen and Michele Lim, won a three-year contract to run the centre following the National Arts Council's open call for partners last May (2013).
Their tagline is to document, create and promote writing for the theatre.
Academic and playwright Dr Loon, the centre's head for documentation, dramaturgy and discourse, tells Life! that the centre will focus on the nuts and bolts of creating theatre, not presenting a slick new production: "We're not a theatre company and we don't behave like one."
