US experts, North Korean officials hold informal nuclear talks
LONDON (AP) - A team of United States experts has met officials from North Korea for informal talks in London over the resumption of stalled international discussions on Pyongyang's nuclear programme.
The two sides met in private in a London hotel for the informal diplomatic talks Wednesday. The six-party talks have been deadlocked since late 2008.
Pyongyang withdrew from the aid-for-disarmament talks in 2009. Over the past year it has made clear it wants to be treated as a nuclear weapons state.
Mr Stephen Bosworth, a former US special envoy for North Korean policy, said after the meeting that it was "cordial and respectful".
