Suicide bombers kill at least 60 at Pakistan church in one of worst attacks on Christians
PESHAWAR (AFP) - Two suicide bombers on Sunday killed at least 60 people and wounded more than 100 in an attack on a church service in the restive north-western Pakistani city of Peshawar, officials said.
It was one of the deadliest attacks for years on Christians in overwhelmingly Muslim Pakistan.
Doctor Mohammad Iqbal of Peshawar’s Lady Reading Hospital told AFP that 61 people had been killed and 120 wounded. Fellow doctor Sher Ali confirmed the numbers.
Peshawar's commissioner Sahibzada Anees told reporters the bombers struck when the service had just ended.
