India's 64th Republic Day celebration included a colourful parade of its cultural diversity as well as a display of its military strength.
Before the parade, Indian President Pranab Mukherjee addressed the nation highlighting some of the challenges facing the country - the growing attacks on women, the dangers of unequal growth and the recent unrest along the border with Pakistan.
