Chinese official to Taipei: Let me visit
TAIPEI (AP) - China's top official for Taiwan affairs says the island should lift its "unnecessary" restrictions and allow him to visit.
Mr Zhang Zhijun told a conference in Fujian Province on Friday that Taiwan's longstanding refusal to host the head of the State Council's Taiwan Affairs Office should come to an end.
Mr Zhang took up his post this week.
On Tuesday, his Taiwanese counterpart Wang Yu-chi appeared to nix the idea of an early visit.
