BEIJING - China's ruling Communist Party wrapped up its week-long congress on Wednesday morning with a brand new leadership expected to see the retirement of top leaders like President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao.

Over 2,200 delegates voted in a closed-door session for a new Central Committee of some 350 people and a central disciplinary commission tasked to tackle corruption and keep cadres in line.

But it remains unclear whether Mr Hu will also step down as Central Military Commission chairman and make an unprecedented full retirement from power or hold on to the post like his predecessor Jiang Zemin did at the last power transfer in 2002.

His decision will likely be known tomorrow morning, when the Central Committee will also pick a new 25-member Politburo and an apex Standing Committee under the helm of new party chief Xi Jinping.
