SHAH ALAM (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - Vice-President of the opposition Parti Keadilan Rakyat, Ms Nurul Izzah Anwar, has submitted her complaint and explanation to the Selangor Islamic Affairs Department (Jais) over allegations that she supports apostasy among Malay Muslims.

The Lembah Pantai MP, who appeared calm when she arrived at the Jais building on Friday, said the meeting with department director Marzuki Husin and several enforcement officers had gone smoothly.

"I gave a statement on what transpired. I also lodged a complaint against several dailies which misquoted my speech.

"I submitted my transcript and reports from several newspapers on the matter. The meeting went well and I am willing to cooperate with Jais," she said after the 30-minute close-door meeting.
