Malaysia to host 2020 Apec summit: PM Najib

VLADIVOSTOK, Eastern Russia (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - Malaysia is set to host the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) leaders' summit in 2020 some 22 years after doing so for the first time.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak confirmed that Malaysia was scheduled to host the meeting then.

"It just happens to be our turn but it's a very auspicious year for us," he said to the Malaysian media covering the summit here on Sunday.

Next year, the summit will be held in Bali, Indonesia, in 2014 it will be in China while the Philippines and Peru will host in 2015 and 2016 respectively.
