Jusuf Kalla signals willingness to run for president in 2014
JAKARTA (THE JAKARTA POST/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - Former vice president Jusuf Kalla has said he could consider another bid for the presidency in 2014.
"If you need me, then let's go. Yes or no? It's up to you," Mr Kalla said with humor to journalists at the Atlet Century Hotel in Jakarta on Monday, as reported by kompas.com.
Kalla's statement follows several surveys that have tipped him as a favorite in 2014.
According to one such recent survey compiled by the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), Mr Kalla was the third most-preferred candidate of respondents, after Lt. Gen. (ret.) Prabowo Subianto and former president Megawati Soekarnoputri.
