Pence kicks off Asia tour

US Vice-President Mike Pence kicks off a six-day Asia tour with a meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe today . He will leave for South Korea tomorrow, where he will meet President Moon Jae In and lead a delegation to the Winter Olympics to ensure North Korea does not "hijack" the Games as it participates in a joint team with the South.


Guidelines on personal data sharing

The Asian Business Law Institute is holding a forum today on how to achieve a common framework on sharing and transferring personal information across borders.

This comes as data protection and privacy laws are gaining ground in the region. Government representatives, regulators and the legal community from more than a dozen countries will attend.


Guide on salary trends in Asia

The Hays Asia Salary Guide will be made public today. It is derived from salary and recruiting trends drawn from more than 3,000 employers across China, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia and Singapore.

Ms Lynne Roeder, managing director of Hays Singapore, will be presenting key findings that cover the changing employment and human resource landscape in Asia and Singapore.
