Nepal to dissolve Parliament

The Nepal Parliament will be dissolved today ahead of federal and provincial elections scheduled for Nov 26 and Dec 7.

The elections will complete a near decade-long democratic transition after the abolition of Nepal's monarchy, said Reuters.

The Election Commission has set Oct 22 as the date for filing nominations for the upcoming polls, reported the Kathmandu Post.


ComChest Awards at Istana

President Halimah Yacob will be the guest of honour at the Community Chest Awards ceremony tonight. This is the first time that the awards - which recognise contributors to the fund-raising body - will be presented during a formal dinner at the Istana.


Advance Q3 growth data out today

The Ministry of Trade and Industry is releasing advance estimates for third-quarter economic growth today. This will come alongside an announcement from the central bank on its exchange rate policy stance.

Economists expect the Singapore economy to register its strongest quarterly growth rate in three years.
