Modi on mission to woo manufacturers

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a mission to sell India as a manufacturing base for companies worldwide as he inaugurates the "Make in India" investment fair today. The six-day event, which ends next Thursday, will bring together more than 190 firms and leading industrialists in Mumbai. Mr Modi is pushing to boost the share of manufacturing in the economy to 25 per cent by 2022, from about 18 per cent now, to put 100 million people to work.


Historic meet of heads of two churches

Pope Francis is meeting Patriarch Kirill - the first such encounter between the heads of the Roman Catholic Church and Russian Orthodox Church since the Great Schism of 1054 - in a bid to begin mending a troubled relationship that has split Christianity for centuries. They will be meeting at Havana's Jose Marti International airport today (Singapore time).


Help for caregivers and care recipients

A programme that aims to reduce the stress on both caregivers and care recipients will be rolled out today.

Senior Minister of State for Health Amy Khor will launch the scheme at a health seminar. To date, more than 400 participants have signed up for the programme, which looks to help develop mindfulness in both caregivers and their recipients.
