Residents crowding around a municipal tanker to collect water in New Delhi yesterday. Protesters in the northern state of Haryana shut off a canal carrying water to Delhi over the weekend amid demonstrations over caste rights, raising fears of a water crisis in the metropolis. The Munak Canal supplies three-fifths of Delhi's water needs for its more than 20 million people. The protests were called off yesterday evening.
