Sikh men in warrior attire preparing to pay their respects at the Golden Temple, the holiest of Sikh shrines, on the 33rd anniversary of Operation Blue Star in Amritsar, India, yesterday. The operation took place from June 3 to 8 in 1984, when the Indian Army stormed the temple to arrest Sikh separatist leader Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and his followers who had started a movement to set up a separate Sikh state called Khalistan.
