A ban on 59 Chinese apps announced by India may seem like a slap on the wrist considering that tensions are running high following the worst border flare-up in decades between the two Asian giants.

But it is intended as a message to China that it cannot be business as usual with New Delhi following the death of 20 Indian soldiers in a violent clash in the Galwan Valley in the Ladakh region on June 15. An unknown number of Chinese soldiers were also believed to have been killed.
