Fear and boycott of citizenship questions risk ruining India's census

BANGALORE - India's Census 2021 is under threat of being stalled or damaged as its data collection is being twinned with the more contentious National Population Register (NPR).

From April, the NPR, which is designed to list residents and eventually identify - and rout out - alleged illegal immigrants, will be prepared along with the census.
