Bus crash kills 14 in Pakistan: Officials

MULTAN, Pakistan (AFP) - At least 14 people were killed and 47 others were wounded when a speeding bus overturned in central Pakistan on Thursday, officials said.

The bus crashed near the town of Mian Chunnu, some 90km east of Multan.

"Seven passengers were killed on the spot and another seven died at hospital," senior police official Tahir Majeed told AFP.

He said another 47 were wounded in the accident.

Rescue workers and hospital officials confirmed the death toll.

Pakistan has one of the world's worst records for fatal traffic accidents, blamed on poor roads, badly maintained vehicles and reckless driving.
