S.Korea-China summit set for June 27; N.Korea on the agenda

SEOUL (AFP) - South Korean President Park Geun Hye will hold a summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping on June 27, her office said in an official statement on Friday.

Confirming details of the trip, the statement said Ms Park would visit China from June 27-30, her second overseas trip since taking office in February.

Ms Park visited the United States last month for talks with President Barack Obama.

The Beijing summit is expected to focus on the issue of North Korea's nuclear programme, as the Korean peninsula emerges from months of soaring military tensions triggered by the North's nuclear test in February.

Ms Park has said she wants to work more closely with China to resolve North Korean issues and seek China's help in convincing Pyongyang that provocative action will not win it concessions.
