Shanghai begins poultry slaughter after H7N9 bird flu found at market

SHANGHAI (AFP) - Shanghai authorities began slaughtering poultry after the H7N9 bird flu virus which has killed five people was detected in samples taken from a market, Xinhua reported on Friday.

The virus was detected in samples of pigeon, sparking the closure of the market, state media said.
