Pupils in Beijing raced in cardboard cars and paddled in handmade boats yesterday in a test of both brain and brawn as part of the 12th Technology Day organised by the Zhongguancun No. 1 Primary School.

More than 2,000 pupils took part in the event aimed at piquing their interest in science, encouraging them to use their imagination and boosting their confidence in problem-solving.
