KUALA LUMPUR (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - A real estate agent has been killed in a drive-by shooting at a Kuala Lumpur suburb in an attack by two unknown assailants riding on a motorcycle, while her eight-year old daughter was injured after also being shot.

The woman was driving her luxury MPV along Jalan Hujan Mas in the Taman OUG suburb on Wednesday (July 6) afternoon at 2.28pm when she was shot dead at close range by the assailants, police said.

The woman had come out to eat at a restaurant nearby with five children and a maid when the assailants approached the MPV and opened fire.

The suspects are believed to have fired five shots, one of which hit the 32-year-old woman in the neck.

The girl, who was in the front passenger seat, was hit by a stray bullet.

Police said the girl is in stable but critical condition at Universiti Malaya Medical Centre and is expected to have a second surgery to remove a bullet slug lodged in her liver.

City CID chief Senior Asst Comm Rusdi Mohd Isa said police are looking for more clues into the shooting and are not ruling out any angle in their investigations.

"Our investigations show that the woman's husband has a cosmetics business but we are also looking if they had other business dealings," he said on Thursday.
