Video of Malaysia schoolgirls embroiled in gang fight goes viral

KOTA KINABALU (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - Video footage of two secondary schoolgirls slugging it out in Penampang has gone on viral on Malaysian social media.

The 49-second video clip caused outrage among netizens, with some calling the act embarrassing and uncalled for.

The video shows a student in a Malaysian Red Crescent T-shirt attacking a taller girl wearing a St. John's Ambulance attire, who did not appear to retaliate.

Others were then seen coming to her aid, which caused a group fight to break out.

The video, which was posted on the Penampang Bulletin Facebook page has since garnered over 2,100 shares and 39,000 views.

The case is now being investigated by the police.

State education director Datuk Jame Alip said they would leave the matter to the police and obtain full details of the incident before taking appropriate action.
