Terengganu crisis: One rep back in Umno, another close to return

PETALING JAYA (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - One of the three Terengganu state assemblymen who quit Umno on Monday night has been persuaded to retract his resignation.

Roslee Daud, the Bukit Besi assemblyman, has agreed to rejoin the party following a meeting with Umno deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin in Kuala Terengganu Tuesday.

This was confirmed by Permaisuri assemblyman and state exco member Datuk Mohd Jidin Shafee.

Ajil assemblyman Ghazali Taib, is believed to be close to making a decision to follow suit.

Efforts to persuade former Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said to return to Umno's fold are still underway.

It is believed that Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek, who met with Ahmad, is confident of a positive outcome.
