PALANGKARAYA (CENTRAL KALIMANTAN) - As Jakarta prepares for a possible evacuation of infants, children, pregnant women and elders from Palangkaraya in Central Kalimantan, Sunday morning on Oct 25 is hardly any different from any other Sunday morning throughout the year.

Residents go out to the city's most polular spot 'Bundaran Besar', its biggest roundabout, to exercise.

They walk, run, cycle, roller-blade, and of course play the local favourite sport - soccer.

Rahman Maulana, 13, who plays soccer at the Bundaran Besar told The Straits Times he wouldn't want to be evacuated and said he can still manage amid the deteriorating air quality.

He plays soccer every afternoon with other children of his age from the neighborhood.

Schools, currently under a forced holiday period due to the haze, will resume Nov 2, he said.
