Sleepwalking Malaysian boy falls to death at hotel in Thailand

HATYAI, THAILAND (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - A 10-year-old Malaysian boy, who was believed to have sleepwalked, plunged to his death from a hotel in Thailand.

Fam Song Heng from Malacca, Malaysia, fell from the sixth floor of the Asia Grand Hotel at Chayakul Street in Hatyai City, Songkhla, at about 2.20am on Saturday (Dec 19).

His body was found in a parking lot at the back of the hotel building, according to police.

Police captain Kittitas Numuang said initial examination by a doctor at the Hatyai Hospital found that Fam had sustained a fractured spine and head injuries.

Police believed Fam had sleepwalked before falling off the building.

Prior to the incident, the boy was sleeping with his grandmother and brother in a room on the sixth floor while his parents stayed on the third floor of the hotel.

Fam's family only learnt of the incident after being alerted by hotel staff.

One of the family members said Fam was on vacation with six other family members and they were expected to return to Malaysia on Saturday.
