Senior Chinese official Meng Jianzhu to visit Singapore for Singapore-China Social Governance Forum

SINGAPORE - Senior Chinese official Meng Jianzhu will visit Singapore on Monday and Tuesday (May 16 and 17) to co-chair the third Singapore-China Social Governance Forum with Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Sunday (May 15).

Mr Meng, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Secretary of the CPC Central Committee Political and Legal Affairs Commission, and DPM Teo will deliver keynote addresses and officiate at the opening ceremony of the Forum which is themed "Governance in a Diverse Society", MFA said in a statement.

The Social Governance Forum is one of the key bilateral cooperation platforms between Singapore and China, noted MFA.

DPM Teo will also have a meeting with Mr Meng and host a dinner in his honour, said the ministry. Minister for Law and Home Affairs K Shanmugam will meet Mr Meng over lunch, while Minister for Social and Family Development Tan Chuan-Jin will host a dinner for him.

Mr Meng will visit the Treelodge@ Punggol and PSA Corporation Ltd. during his trip to learn more about Singapore's urban planning and port facility management, MFA said.
