SEMENYIH (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - Malaysian police are certain that the female passenger who died in Saturday's helicopter crash is Aidana Baizieva from Kyrgyzstan who is a friend of the pilot.

Selangor police chief Senior Deputy Commissioner Samah Mat said that although conclusive DNA evidence has yet to be confirmed, police are satisfied with investigations.

"Based on our investigations, we believe the woman is Aidana Baizieva, 25, from Kyrgyzstan.

"A team of investigators have gone to her apartment in Pantai Dalam and had acquired items to collect her DNA.

"We also found evidence in the form of plane tickets to Langkawi on Mar 21... with her name and the name of the pilot," SDCP Abdul Samah told reporters at the crash site command centre on Tuesday.

He said based on statements of the apartment management, the pilot had visited her apartment on several occasions.

"From our investigations so far we believe the girl was an acquaintance of the pilot.

"She had shown an interest in flying and wanted to become a pilot.

"Based on statements from the helicopter company, she had on previous occasions joined the pilot on other flights," he said, adding that a DNA test was being conducted.

He said if the test was inconclusive, police would have to call the girl's 75-year-old father from Kyrgyzstan to give a sample of his DNA.

The Selangor police chief also confirmed that the body of the pilot had been claimed and was now at the US Embassy.

"The body was claimed at 8.15pm on Monday by an undertaker employed by the Embassy.

"We have not received word if the body will be flown back (to the United States) or if laid to rest here," he said.
