Two major political parties in Indonesia are toying with the idea of forming a coalition to take on President Joko Widodo when he runs for re-election next year, raising the possibility of an all-army ticket against the incumbent.
The opposition Gerindra Party chief Prabowo Subianto, a former three-star general, is set to meet former president and Democratic Party founder Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) tonight to discuss joining forces, a party source told The Straits Times yesterday.
