Photo essay: Super Typhoon Haiyan

Since hitting land in the Samar province on November 8, the category five Typhoon Haiyan claimed thousands of lives after it tore through the coastal city of Tacloban in central Philippines.

The strongest typhoon of the year is likely to have displaced almost half a million people in 36 provinces, as relief efforts and supplies continue to pour into the country.
