Guan Eng announces SCI for Tanjung Bungah landslide.

GEORGE TOWN (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has given the developer of the Tanjung Bungah landslide site a week to meet all buyers.

"The developer has to face all buyers in a week or the state will be involved," Mr Lim posted in Chinese on his Facebook page on Thursday (Oct 26).

The Chief Minister chaired a press conference in the morning on Thursday to brief the public on actions being taken over the landslide last Saturday that killed 11.

He repeated his warning to the developer at the press conference.

On Wednesday, the developer, Taman Sri Bunga, issued a media statement that it had appointed an engineering consultancy to conduct an independent assessment into the cause of the landslide.

Since the landslide, some buyers of the apartment units have expressed their worry for the future of their purchases.
