Nine killed in van, truck collision in Perak's Tapah

PETALING JAYA (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - Nine people were killed in a collision between a van and an ice truck in Tapah on Saturday (Oct 28).

Tapah OCPD Supt Som Sak Din Keliaw said the victims included eight women all of whom died at the scene of the crash in Jalan Besar SMTD, Ayer Kuning.

Police received a call at 6.42am that a truck had crashed into a van, he added.

Firemen found the victims trapped in their seats in the van while another passenger was thrown out of the vehicle in the 6.30am collision.

The 22-year-old male driver of the ice truck was pinned to his seat during the accident. He has been sent to hospital.
