A firefighter at the scene of a massive blaze at the University of the East campus in Manila yesterday.

Media reports say welding work at the College of Arts and Sciences building may have sparked the fire, which spread to two other buildings. Students and staff members were evacuated, and there were no immediate reports of casualties.

A fire also broke out at the University of the Philippines in Quezon City a day earlier.
